Semantiweb

April 11, 2025 Eileen Daspro

Los Angeles, California

The team, led by Brianna Floyd and Halle Fernandez, worked on a strategic consulting project for SemantiWeb focused on supporting the company’s expansion into the U.S. market research industry. Their objective was to deliver a comprehensive analysis and set of recommendations to help SemantiWeb navigate the competitive landscape and strengthen its positioning. The project included a U.S. industry overview, a detailed SWOT analysis, and a competitor matrix to identify key opportunities and threats. Additionally, the team identified potential social listening acquisition targets aligned with SemantiWeb’s business goals and proposed an enhanced marketing and communications plan. This included event strategy recommendations, social media analysis, and a targeted outreach approach to help the company increase brand visibility and engagement in the U.S. market.

Working with Semantiweb was such an incredible opportunity! Semantiweb focuses on consumer insights within the fashion, food, and cosmetic industries, which perfectly aligns with my interests. Throughout the project, I got to work with team members and the executive board to create an engaging slideshow for the client. We completed a competitive analysis, a market expansion strategy, and a social media audit. This deep dive into the industry was eye-opening, as I learned how various companies differentiate themselves through service offerings, pricing models, and technological innovations.

After weeks of research, our team presented our recommendations and findings to Semantiweb in Los Angeles, California. The client responded positively, mentioning that our presentation was insightful and relevant! Seeing our hard work recognized was truly a rewarding moment.

Overall, this consulting project deepened my understanding of market expansion strategies and the complexities of entering the U.S. market. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity to work with the Student International Business Council and Semantiweb, and I look forward to applying these skills to future business endeavors.

-Halle Feranandez

Leading the consulting project for Semantiweb was an incredible experience. I gained firsthand insight into the power and potential of social listening, and learning about this rapidly evolving industry challenged me to think critically about data, technology, and human behavior all at once. This project gave me the opportunity to step into a leadership role – not just to deliver a final product, but to guide a team through new and complex territory with curiosity and adaptability.

From scoping the engagement to final delivery, I learned how to balance strategic oversight with hands-on problem-solving and how to lean into the diverse strengths each team member brought to the table. One of the most valuable takeaways for me was the importance of clear communication within the team and with the company. As the project evolved, I focused on keeping the team grounded in our objectives while navigating change. I also learned how to create space for open discussion, manage challenges with confidence, and maintain momentum even when the path forward wasn’t always linear.

I’m grateful to my team and I’d like to give a special shoutout to Rangoli as well as many thanks to the eBoard for your support throughout. I walk away from this experience with a deeper appreciation for how strong collaboration and adaptability can drive progress, even in unfamiliar territory.
